The Colonel Noel Percy Adams Trust (Melrose) Society was formed in 1974 when the House and grounds were taken over by Nelson City Council. The Trust is a registered charitable, ‘not-for-profit’ incorporated society comprised entirely of volunteers, which deals with the day to day running of the House, its preservation and promotion.

Current Trustees: Alan Winwood (Chair), Sylvia Wesney (Vice-chair), Donald Bennett (Treasurer), Nicky Galbraith (Secretary), Kay McQuire and Simon Owen.

Our Vision & Objectives

Vision:

  • To preserve and enhance the cultural heritage of Melrose House for the Nelson Tasman community and its visitors.

Objectives:

  • To ensure the preservation and enhancement of historically significant Melrose House as a noteworthy part of the Nelson Tasman community and its visitors past and future.
  • To ensure that public use of Melrose House and Gardens is maximised so that the public may enjoy its grandeur and beauty while also absorbing its historical significance to the city and region.
