The committee responsible for Melrose Historic House is comprised of dedicated and hardworking local volunteers.
A resident manager oversees the day to day management of functions and bookings, but any improvements and refurbishments must be funded by bookings or donations. As you can imagine, maintaining such a large and unique building is no small task!
Current goals include installation of a fire sprinkler system, the completion of ceiling and floor insulation, and implementation of an efficient heating system to protect the house and make it more comfortable for the community.
In additional to general repairs and maintenance there is ongoing work to be done replacing the original fixtures and fittings which were stripped from the house and sold at auction in the early 1970's. The committee are always keen to hear from anyone who may have historical items they would like to gift back.
They welcome any interest you may have as a 'friend of Melrose' to be kept informed of progress and events, and gratefully appreciate any support or funding you are able to contribute.
